Southern California is an incredible place to live, work, and play.  And the crown jewel of the golden state?  Our magnificent beaches of course!  If you started 2018 with some fresh goals to exercise and spend more time outdoors, we’re with you.  What better place to get a workout in than on the sand?  Here are the best beaches to workout on in Newport Beach — you won’t even know you’re working out we promise!

Crystal Cove State Park

Crystal Cove is truly the crown jewel of orange county with 17 miles of trails and even different levels to choose from.  The trails have stunning ocean views, and the beach at Crystal Cove is something special.  Very few beaches feel ‘off the beaten path’ from a boardwalk or main drag, but Crystal Cove is a world of its own with cute cottages lining the cove and a pristine seashore.  For a reprieve from the busy day-to-day Crystal Cove is the perfect place to get a jog or some yoga time in.

Newport Bay

If you want to get off the beach and onto the water, Newport Bay is the perfect calm waters for kayaking or paddleboarding.  If you don’t own either, not to worry — you can rent equipment at Newport Bay easily!  Paddleboarders will attribute six pack abs and sculpted arms to their hours on the water, so if that’s up your ally give water sports a go! @southwindkayakcenter

Bike on the Boardwalk

There are plenty of indoor cycling classes in the area, but why not try the real thing?  The Newport Beach boardwalk stretches on for miles and is the ideal spot to get some wind in your hair while you watch the waves roll in.  If you want to try cycling on for size before investing in your own bike, there are plenty of cheap rentals to choose from.  It’s 2018, be your own SoulCycle!

Newport Beach

Nothing beats a classic run on the beach workout, right?  Mornings at low tide are best for running because there’s more hard sand (and less people!).  Nothing like getting your heart pumping and those endorphins flowing seaside.  With so little rain in Southern California and plenty of sunshine, you really can’t go wrong working out on the beach.

We’re so lucky to call the beach home — here’s to hoping your 2018 workout regime includes plenty of salty air and sand between your toes!
