What’s Halloween without getting in a few good shrieks of utter horror in?  The best haunted houses in the Costa Mesa area range from decked out private residences to big-budget amusement park horrors.  Whatever thrills and chills you, Orange County has got you covered.  Here’s a couple of our local favorites for your horror enjoyment.

Hauntington Beach Manor

Many locals claim that the Hauntington Beach Manor tops any professional haunts out there.  Each year for Halloween, one house on Sailfish Drive transforms from ordinary to utterly terrifying.  A full on maze build out front of the house contains horrifying props, a graveyard, and actors whose sole mission is to scare the living pumpkin out of you.  It’s open from dusk-10pm Friday and Saturday nights until the 31st. Bring a can of food for donation, it goes to a great local cause!

The Gershon Dungeon

The Gershon Dungeon is a small private haunted house created by a family who loves the season enough to transform their home for the event! In fact, there is an eery legend behind the ‘haunted’ Gershon Dungeon — you can read all about it here.  It only runs on the 28th and 31st, so make your plans in advance!

Knott’s Scary Farms

An amusement park transformed into a haunted maze upon maze is an experience thrill seekers will love.  There’s something for everyone here: mazes, scare zones, haunted rides.  Every section has it’s own theme so you won’t grow tired of the same old monsters again and again (who wants that?!).  All the fun of the amusement park is there for you to enjoy as well, so come hungry and ready to ride some coasters at night!

We hope you don’t mind a nightmare or two because you’re about to have the bejeebers scared out of you!
