For Italian food lovers, great Italian food means so much more than just a bowl of pasta.   The quality and origin of the ingredients give it a regional flare and dimension.  Besides the obvious deliciousness of Italian food, Italian restaurants are known for their warm service and family-like welcoming atmosphere.  Here’s some of our favorite restaurants in Newport Beach where you’ll be welcomed like family as you feast on some of the finest Italian flavors around!

Il Faro Restaurant

Rustic Italian food meets coastal cuisine at Il Faro Restaurant under the famed Chef Vito.  The restaurant is named after an Italian grain, a grain they also use to make their homemade gelato, pasta, and breads.  The restaurant is a quick walk from the pier, so it’s great for a date night or dinner with friends.  Don’t miss the ravioli in saffron sauce!

Mama D’s Italian Kitchen

Mama D’s is a  casual family restaurant where you’ll find the classic red and white checkered tablecloths and incredibly warm service.  The restaurant is named after the owner ‘Mama D’ who was inspired to cook for the community and share her grandmother’s classic recipes.  Old fashioned classics, generous helpings, and a fun warm atmosphere make Mama D’s kitchen a beloved go-to for many Newport Beach locals! @mamads_newportbeach (ig only)

Canaletto Ristorante Veneto

Canaletto is a wonderfully authentic Italian restaurant that embraces Newport’s coastal atmosphere with seafood inspired dishes.  Part of the Il Fornaio family, you can count on Canaletto to get it right every time.  Although this restaurant is part of a larger franchise, it still retains a warm family feel.  In fact, you’ll find that many of the servers speak with an Italian accent and are highly knowledgeable about the menu offerings and beverages.  Try the linguine mar and the calamari — you can’t go wrong here!  @ilfornaionline

Settebello Pizzeria Napoletana

It’s hard to really screw up pizza, but creating perfect pizza — that’s an art.  Settebello uses fresh premium ingredients to create mouth watering pizza perfection.  In fact, their flour is shipped in directly from Napoli and the parmesan from Modena.  The traditional pizza oven bakes pizzas to crispy perfection at 1,000 degrees.  This Italian transplant in Newport Beach has a real pizza our heart.  @settebellopizza

From romantic candlelit dinners to casual fare, Newport Beach is stuffed like calzone with delicious Italian food. Buon appetito!
