We’re emerging blinking into the light as spring finally descends all around us. Gone are the heating blankets and space heaters to be replaced by air conditioning! Lots and lots of air conditioning! Well here in Irvine, spring has a special place in our hearts especially because of the upcoming spring events held here. Let’s do a quick rundown of what to expect.
On April 8th check out the Annual Gardenfest hosted by the San Clemente Garden Club in (surprise, surprise) San Clemente. It’s free (hooray!) and this years highlights include the annual Plant Sale and Garden Flea Market. It runs from 8am to 2pm and also includes a Floral & Funky Container Design Competition as well as a painting competition.
You can also check out the Newport Beach Film Festival. Running from April 20th to 27th, Orange County’s largest entertainment-related happening serves up a grand 350 films and nightly events. The film fest is held at various theaters in Newport Beach, Costa Mesa and Santa Ana so be sure to coordinate what you want to see and where to find it over on their website.
Earth Day is Saturday April 22nd and the Bolsa Chica Conservancy’s Earth Day Festival will see it in in style. At this family-friendly event, you’ll have the chance to hang with snakes – alongside a jump tent, food sales and a guided tour of the reserve.
If you’ve got kids you should definitely head to the Pretend City Children’s Museum to Celebrate the Week Of The Young Child! Running from April 24-April 28th, this week-long celebration is all about raising awareness and showing the importance of early childhood education. There’s a range of events over the course of the week, from Music Monday, Tasy Tuesday, Work Together Wednesday, Artsy Thursday and Family Friday so if you’ve got little ones, this one’s for you.
Finally, check out the Pet Expo from April 28-30 at the OC Fair & Event Center. It includes a Police K-9 demonstration, a reptile show, a bird show as well as dog events, a cat program and a kid’s aquarium contest.
Whatever you choose to do, have a GREAT spring!
