In 1965, University of California-Irvine opened up. The prestigious university is only 8 minutes away from us here at Main Street Village luxury apartments and we felt the need to take part in the celebration and honoring of William Pereira who was the initial architect of the campus 50 years ago.
A brief bit about William Pereira is that he was an American architect famous for futuristic designs of landmark buildings, such as the Transamerica Pyramid in San Francisco and the Theme building at Los Angeles International Airport. He also created the master plan for the 43-year-old city of Irvine, which is considered one of the greatest master-planned cities in America. Pereira helped define the look of mid-20th Century America and he was featured on the cover of Time Magazine in September 1963. The exhibit titled “Bold and Independent: UC Irvine’s 50th Anniversary Exhibition” will be held October 9-January 17 at the Great Park Gallery, Orange County Great Park. It is a free event and is open Thursday and Friday from noon to four, and Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 4pm. This is definitely something you do not want to miss especially if you are a student at UC Irvine or just a resident of beautiful Irvine, California.
We at Main Street Village luxury apartments for rent in Irvine hope that you find the time to go and check out the event, because it is truly a beautiful part of the history of our amazing city of Irvine. After checking out the event, consider scheduling a tour of our luxury apartments, because it is always good to live somewhere that is up to date on the local events in the city.
