The turkey has been stuffed, served and eaten. There may still be some leftovers in your energy-efficient refrigerator at Main Street Village luxury apartments in Irvine, but Thanksgiving is now over and it’s time to start decking the halls and getting into the spirit.

The newest event of the area happens December 6 when Irvine Civic Center transforms into a Winter Wonderland with a 25-foot-tall Christmas tree, holiday concert, train rides and children’s activities. The event is free, but please bring a new, unwrapped gift for kids up to age 12 for the Marine Adoption Committee Holiday Toy Drive. Santa will stop by, and it will even snow.

One of the oldest Christmas traditions is the Newport Beach Boat Parade which began in 1907. Over 200 ships, boats and water craft will all be decorated and lit up, with carolers and maybe even Santa. View the parade from the shore, or reserve a seat on a boat and be in the parade. You can cruise and see not only festive water craft, but estates along the shore as well. The parade begins on December 16 and ends December 20.

Or if you celebrate Hanukkah, check out the Golden Dreidle. This store carries Menorahs, dripless Chanukah candles, latke platters, collectible and toy dreidles, books and toys. This store is only 1.5 miles from the Main Street Village luxury apartments.
